Werder sign Pasanen
The Finnish defender was informed he had no future at Ajax under Ronald Koeman and had been on the lookout for a new club for the majority of the summer.
Having failed to secure a permanent deal with Portsmouth following his loan stint on the South Coast, Pasanen switched his attentions to mainland Europe.
German champions Werder Bremen came calling and he seemingly had little hesitation in agreeing terms.
"The transfer fee we got for Manuel Friedrich was a significant factor in realising the acquisition of Jensen and Pasanen," Werder's sporting director Klaus Allofs told the club's website after adding Pasanen to the capture of Daniel Jensen.
Werder beat off competition from sides in France and Italy to the capture of Pasanen, who has produced assured displays for Ajax in Europe and will be a solid addition to the Bremen squad.
