Lampard welcomes Mourinho era

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard believes new manager Jose Mourinho could have as much of an impact as Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger have had in The Premiership.

The England man, who had an impressive campaign for The Blues last term, has seen more changes take place at Stamford Bridge, as Mourinho stamps his authority on the club.

With Chelsea embarking on their three-match tour of the United States on Wednesday, the former West Ham United man believes his new boss could be leading the West London club into a very successful era from the start of this season.

"I've never worked with Wenger or Ferguson, but there is a unique style and a feeling that style will be good for us," said Lampard.

"I have only met the manager for a short time, but he's very organised. He really cares about his players and counts us as family.

"There's real freshness about the training sessions and the club as a whole.

"We've signed good players and we know where we want to go.

"Every manager has his own ideas. Claudio Ranieri had good ideas, but the new manager has new ideas and everyone is excited about the new regime.

"Things seem more structured."

The Blues face Scottish champions Celtic in Seattle, Washington on Saturday to start their American pre-season tour.
