Deehan blasts Pinault agent

Northampton director of football John Deehan has blasted the agent of Thomas Pinault after the player declined a contract offer to take a trial at Dundee United.

Cobblers boss Colin Calderwood was keen to sign the Frenchman on a permanent basis but Pinault has now decided to try his hand in Scotland.

Pinault impressed in a series of trial games but Calderwood will now turn to other targets.

''We made a good offer to Thomas Pinault but his agent obviously thought he could do better and he has gone to Dundee United,'' confirmed Deehan.

''It is a pity, but when you play in trial games it alerts other clubs to the players - that is a risk you take."

Meanwhile, Bertrand Cozic, who had a spell with Cheltenham Town last season, played the final 15 minutes of Northampton's friendly against Kettering Town.
