Quakers trial more strikers

Darlington's search for a new striker has seen the League Two club hand a trial to former Charlton Athletic striker Kim Grant.

The Ghanaian international is looking for a new club after having experienced a much-travelled career to this point.

Grant, 32, has appeared for a number of clubs including Luton Town, Millwall, Belgian side Lommel, Scunthorpe United and Yeovil Town.

Another hit-man to receive the chance to earn a Quakers contract is Lens striker Ibrahima N'Diaye, who scored in the club's pre-season friendly win over League One side Blackpool on Saturday.

The arrival of new faces comes as Darlington have signed Argentine striker Leandro Scartascini to a three-month contract with the club.

Meanwhile, Darlington manager David Hodgson (pictured) has decided to offer former Middlesbrough and Crystal Palace defender Curtis Fleming a contract with the North East outfit.

Fleming has been on trial with The Quakers since the beginning of July and Hodgson is ready to hand the 35-year-old a permanent contract for the coming campaign.

"At the moment, we can only sign two players, but we have made the decision to offer Curtis the contract now and it will kick in when we come out of administration," Hodgson told The Northern Echo.

"He's keen to stay up here to be with his family, which is great news for us because he's a fantastic professional."
