Kameni happy to follow N'Kono

Cameroon goalkeeper Carlos Kameni spoke of his joy after finally completing his move to Espanyol from Le Havre.

The Spanish side had announced they had belatedly struck a deal with the young shot-stopper on Monday but were waiting for Kameni to pass a routine medical.

This he duly did on Tuesday and Kameni can now look forward to the start of the Primera Liga season with Espanyol.

Kameni twice failed to secure a move to England with firstly Wolves, then Bolton Wanderers, but he is relishing playing for Espanyol.

He also acknowledged his pride at being compared to compatriot Thomas N'Kono, who donned the keeper's jersey for Espanyol during his illustrious career.

"It is an honour for me when I am compared to a man such as Tommy N'Kono," said Kameni.

"I am here to learn and I have previously had the luck to learn from N'Kono with the Cameroon team at youth level and the senior team.

"I have come to Espanyol to work hard and demonstrate the confidence that has been placed in me by the club."
