Edmilson: I snubbed Real
New Barcelona signing Edmilson has claimed he shunned an offer from Real Madrid to join their arch rivals.
The Brazilian defender finalised his transfer from Lyon on Thursday and spelt out his delight at securing a switch to 'a big club'.
However, the 28-year-old has added extra spice to his move to Camp Nou by insisting that Real attempted to land his services, but that his preference was always Barca.
"They (Real Madrid) contacted me, but I gave my word to (Barcelona vice president) Sandro Rosell," Edmilson stated.
"He (Rosell) trusted me and I gave him my word because I always said I wanted to come to Barcelona."
