Bolton seal Cesar deal
Bolton Wanderers have confirmed the signing of Brazilian defender Julio Cesar.
Bolton Wanderers have confirmed the signing of Brazilian defender Julio Cesar. The 25-year-old has signed on at The Reebok Stadium after impressing on trial.
Cesar has joined Bolton on a free transfer from Real Madrid and manager Sam Allardyce is delighted with the deal.
"Cesar was a turn up for the book," said Allardyce.
"Generally when you get a player on trial, 99.9 percent of the time they don't show enough to encourage you to take them. But this guy did everything right from day one.
"I can't get my head round getting him out of Spain for nothing."
Cesar is even hoping that he can earn a Spanish call-up, after deciding to switch his international allegiance.
"We will look after him," added Allardyce.
"Then if he gains more international experience then will be happy and praise him for that."
Meanwhile, Bolton are set to be boosted by the return to fitness of French defender Florent Laville.Laville missed most of last season after he suffered knee ligament damage.
December had been pencilled in as the most likely return date for the 31-year-old, but he is now set to return in the next few weeks.
"He is training well and coming along quite nicely, although he is still some way off playing again," said Allardyce.
"By the time he comes back, he will have been out for around 12 months, so it will be a question of how quickly we can get him back to the level required to play in The Premiership.
"Hopefully it will be sooner rather than later because we need him."
