Blades outcast joins rivals

Rotherham United have snapped up Paul Shaw on loan from South Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United.

Shaw is on the Bramall Lane transfer list despite only joining The Blades from Gillingham back in January.

The 30-year-old has been linked with a move back to The Gills while another former club - Millwall - have also been credited with an interest.

Doncaster Rovers had a £100,000 bid accepted for the midfielder but Shaw rejected the chance to drop down to League One.

He has now concurred on a three-month loan with The Millers and should make his debut in Saturday's Championship encounter against promoted Queens Park Rangers.

Shaw is grateful for the opportunity with Rotherham and may be willing to make a permanent move to Millmoor.

"I am pleased to get the chance to come to Rotherham and play as much football as possible," Shaw told the club's official website.

"Things didn't quite work out for me at Bramall Lane so this is a good move and I will consider making it a permanent one."
