Kezman handed three-game ban

Chelsea striker Mateja Kezman will be available for the start of the new season, despite being handed a three-match ban in pre-season.

Chelsea striker Mateja Kezman will be available for the start of the new season, despite being handed a three-match ban.

The summer signing from PSV Eindhoven was sent off in the Champions World Series win over Roma last week after clashing with Olivier Dacourt.

Chelsea were hoping that Kezman would escape a ban after missing the final game during their tour of the US against Milan.

US Soccer sent a report of the incident to The Football Association and they have now taken action against the player.

Kezman has been given a three-match suspension, but the ban will not come into effect until August 17 leaving him available for the opener with Manchester United on August 15.

The Serbian striker will be forced to sit out the next three games away to Birmingham and Crystal Palace and the home clash with Southampton.
