Slovan Liberec scored a vital away goal as they lost 2-1 to Schalke in the first leg of their Intertoto Cup final.

Tomas Zapotocny netted with 15 minutes remaining in Gelsenkirchen to keep the Czech Republic side in with a chance of qualifying for the Uefa Cup.

Schalke had been in command for the bulk of the tie after taking a 2-0 lead in to the interval.
