Leeds eye Boro cast off

Leeds United are believed to have handed a trial to Dutch midfielder Sergio Hellings.

The Anderlecht youngster had trained with Middlesbrough earlier this summer and impressed during his time at The Riverside.

Boro made moves to sign the former Ajax starlet, but decided against a deal after finding out they would have to pay around £500,000 for his services.

Leeds - who are looking at a host of trialists - are now thought to be running the rule over Hellings.

Anderlecht have told Hellings that he must find a new club by next week or return to Brussels to continue his career with them.
