Reds seal double Spanish deal

Liverpool have completed the double signing of Spanish duo Xabi Alonso and Luis Garcia.

The Spanish pair have penned five-year deals at Anfield after successfully passing medicals.

Reds boss Rafa Benitez has been chasing the duo all summer and they take his Spanish arrivals at Anfield to four following the signings of Josemi and Antonio Nunez.

Midfield star Alonso arrives from Real Sociedad in a £10 million deal, while winger Garcia has come from Barcelona for a fee in the region of £6 million.

Both players have not signed in time to make their debuts against Manchester City on Saturday.

They will also miss next week's UEFA Champions League qualifier with Grazer AK, but they are set to feature in next weekend's clash at Bolton.
