Pilgrims keen on Kerkar

Plymouth are the latest club to join the chase for Algerian midfielder Karim Kerkar.

Plymouth Argyle are the latest club to join the chase for Algerian midfielder Karim Kerkar.

Kerkar has attracted the interest of a host of clubs after impressing at Scottish Division One side Clyde.

The 27-year-old signed a one-month short-term deal at Clyde to maintain his fitness after leaving Qatar earlier this summer.

Kerkar has proved a major success at Clyde and his performances have alerted SPL duo Dundee United and Kilmarnock as well as Plymouth.

The player's agent Willie McKay revealed a number of clubs were keen on Kerkar and that some were due to watch him play for Clyde on Tuesday night against Airdrie.

"There are several clubs looking to sign Karim after impressing at Clyde," McKay told skysports.com.

"I know some people are coming to watch him in action against Airdrie on Tuesday."

Argyle boss Bobby Williamson has admitted he is very keen on Kerkar after being tipped off about him.

"I was alerted to him from people I respect in Scotland," said Williamson.

"I have received two good reports on him and, having played over 150 games in France for Le Havre, he is obviously a great talent."
