Dundee United and Livingston both avoided potential banana skins to move in to the third round of the CIS Insurance Cup.

SPL outfit Dundee United entertained Stranraer and recovered from a setback to run out 3-1 winners at Tannadice.

Murray Henderson stunned the hosts when putting the lower league side ahead on 39 minutes but James Grady levelled before the break.

Ian McCall's side were in front on 63 minutes through Mark Kerr and Chris Innes wrapped up the scoring on 73 minutes.

Livingston had to work hard to claim a 2-0 victory at Stirling Albion, with the game always in the balance.

Craig Easton scored on the half-hour mark for the visitors but it was not until Jim Hamilton's last minute goal that Livi put the match beyond doubt.
