Almeyda plumps for Brescia

Brescia have moved to snap up Matias Almeyda on a one-year deal.

The Argentine midfielder left Internazionale this summer after being told he would not be handed a new contract, but has found a new home for the season.

Although he signed a contract with Independiente, kidnap threats brought a change of mind and the club graciously allowed him to annul the deal.

Independiente's loss has been Brescia's gain with the experienced South American agreeing to remain in Italy for the coming campaign.

Brescia have been assiduous in their pursuit of the player, and were delighted to resurrect the deal - which was brokered by Almeyda himself.

Everton had been linked with the player, but a return to Serie A proved to be a bigger draw.
