Domoraud exits Espanyol

Espanyol have reached an agreement to cancel the contract of Cyril Domoraud.

Espanyol have reached an agreement to cancel the contract of defender Cyril Domoraud.

The Ivory Coast stopper saw his chances of regular first-team action considerably diminished by the recent signing of Hugo Ibarra and has now decided to move on.

The 33-year-old joined Espanyol two seasons ago, and recently agreed a new deal with the Catalan outfit.

After playing over 25 games last term, Domoraud automatically earned a new contract and had looked set for another campaign at Estadio Olimpico de Montjuic.

However, the former Monaco and Marseille failed to impress new Espanyol boss Miguel Angel Lotina sufficiently - leading to the signing of Ibarra - and will now look to prolong his career elsewhere.

Also departing the club is Cameroon full back Pierre Wome who leaves after just one full season.

The 25-year-old was signed by Javier Clemente last summer from Fulham, but was not given a squad number for the new season by Lotina.

Espanyol have now informed the African that his contract has been annulled and the player will start the search for a new club.
