French full back Gregory Vignal admits he ruined last season by failing to listen to former Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier.Vignal is currently attempting to put his career back on track during a season-long loan at Rangers from Liverpool.
But, last term, the left back spent time at Rennes and Espanyol and he concedes he erred in his pursuit of regular first team football.
"I wanted to play so much that I didn't listen to Gerard Houllier," Vignal told France Football.
"I left Liverpool to burn my wings at Rennes where I could not adapt and then at Espanyol with Luis Fernandez.
"That season I ruined everything. All my credit has disappeared. It was a mistake due to my lack of experience."
The 23-year-old has immediately established himself at Ibrox and he admits he did not hesitate to accept Rangers' offer to move to The SPL.
He added: "As soon as there was contact with Rangers, I packed up and left.
"We have a fake image of the Scottish league. Even I had the image of it not being a big championship.
"We are completely wrong. I can tell you there are a lot of talented, young players.
"Of course there are fewer stars than in England but it is the same kind of football. I was surprised. It is really a shame that the league doesn't get more media coverage."
