Frey's Parma pledge

Parma goalkeeper Sebastien Frey has pledged his future to the Serie A club.

Parma goalkeeper Sebastien Frey has pledged his future to the Serie A club.

Frey has repeatedly been linked with an exit from Ennio Tardini, with Arsenal purportedly his leading suitors.

Serie A new boys Palermo have also been mooted as admirers of the French shot-stopper.

But after mulling over his situation during the summer, Frey has opted to remain with Parma for the coming campaign.

He admits he currently sees no reason to leave the Gialloblu and wants to build on last season's fifth place finish.

"I've thought for a long time this summer," Frey told the club's official website.

"This is a place where I feel really good. Last season we finished in fifth place, so why leave?

"And considering the team need me, the club asked me to stay.

"I have respect for the club for what they did. Despite the big problems, they have still been good to us, so I said yes I will stay."
