Angelo: 'Valencia is my home'

Miguel Angel Angulo says it was a personal decision to reject a move to Highbury.

Valencia star Miguel Angel Angulo has revealed why he decided against joining Arsenal on transfer deadline day.

The Spanish forward was all set to become Arsene Wenger's latest capture after travelling to London to complete a move to Highbury.

However, instead of linking up with the Frenchman's unbeaten Premiership leaders, he is instead penning a new deal at La Mestalla.

"It is exclusively a personal decision," he said at the airport on his return to Spain.

"My heart decided one thing and my head another but, finally, I have decided on Valencia, where I have my home.

"It's not always the money that decides such things.

"Arsenal are a great team. I said to them that already I hope my decision does not affect their plans.

"I only want to play soon and already we are speaking of the subject of renewing my contract."

It seems that it was a case of home is where the heart is for Angulo, who would have had quite some challenge bidding to earn a regular place in Wenger's side.
