Dabo misses out on move
Lazio were hoping to sell midfielder Ousmane Dabo to West Bromwich Albion.
Lazio were hoping to sell midfielder Ousmane Dabo to West Brom before the close of the transfer window.Dabo was reportedly a target for The Baggies as Gary Megson sought to seriously strengthen his squad before Tuesday's deadline.
In the final days of the transfer window, Megson was a busy boss as he managed to entice Robert Earnshaw, Junichi Inamoto and Cosmin Contra to The Hawthorns.
But it appears time ran out for Megson regarding his pursuit of defensive midfielder Dabo.
Megson had also been looking to thrash out a deal for Hungarian midfielder Szabolcs Huszti but it seems as though there was insufficient time for the deals to be pushed through.
With Sean Gregan tipped to leave The Hawthorns in the near future, Megson has been seeking to add more grit to his engine room.
Dabo would have fit the bill as an anchor man, and Lazio were keen to sell according to Italian reports, but West Brom could not confirm the transfer.
The 27-year-old only moved to Stadio Olimpico last summer from Atalanta but Lazio were involved in a protracted wrangle with his former club.
It was only in June that Lazio secured Dabo's full transfer rights and they were aiming to quickly cash in on the Frenchman.
