Coridon happy with PSG move

Charles-Edouard Coridon felt he did enough to win a deal at Blackburn or Celtic.

Charles-Edouard Coridon felt he did enough to win a deal at either Blackburn or Celtic, but was quite happy to join Paris Saint Germain when the capital club came calling.

The Frenchman hooked up with Blackburn for a trial and impressed Rovers chief Graeme Souness.

Midfielder Coridon also produced the goods when on trial in Scotland and claims he would have gladly accepted a move across The Channel.

Rovers boss Souness suggested he was keen to sign Coridon, but the 31-year-old says the trail went cold and had little hesitation in sealing a move to PSG once Vahid Halilhodzic came calling.

"The Parisian officials contacted me, one week ago, before calling Lens," he told France Football. "As I didn't have any reply from Blackburn Rovers or Celtic, even if everything went off smoothly during my trials, I have accepted the Parisian challenge.

"I think I did well in Scotland and in England. It was a beautiful experience! I discovered nice people, a different atmosphere and training sessions.

"Why didn't I sign there? I don't know.

"I was surprised by the PSG interest. But I am happy to be in Paris."

Coridon is nursing a slight problem and is a doubt for PSG's opening UEFA Champions League clash.

"Will I be fit for the first Champions League match against Chelsea?" he said. "I don't know. I need to work."
