Radzinski to fight Toffees fine
Fulham striker Tomasz Radzinski is preparing to fight his Everton fine.
Fulham striker Tomasz Radzinski believes his comments regarding former team-mate Wayne Rooney did not warrant a fine from Everton. The Canadian international, who is currently on World Cup qualifying duty with the North American nation, was fined two weeks' wages by The Toffees after comments regarding his contractual situation and teenage sensation Rooney.
The former Germinal Ekeren and Anderlecht hit-man was fined after suggesting that Rooney should leave Everton in order to improve himself as a player.
Radzinski does not regret making the comments and plans to fight Everton's fine at a hearing later this month.
"I don't think it was a big outburst," Radzinski told The Canadian Press.
"It was just bad timing maybe and that's why I got fined.
"I thought it was really not fair to me after the service I provided to Everton for three years."
Despite the comments, the hit-man was pleased to see Rooney complete a move to Manchester United this week in a deal worth up to £30 million.
Radzinski feels that he will flourish alongside the other big names at Old Trafford, as the teenager was becoming the famous face at Goodison Park.
"I think it is good for Wayne that he is leaving because for a young guy with his talent and that great a media attention, he was becoming too big for Everton," he added.
"Now with his move to Manchester United, he will just be one of many, many stars on that team and I think it will help with his future career because I think they will leave him a little bit alone.
"He can have a normal 18-year-old private life now."
Radzinski, who rejected a new three-year contract with Everton before moving to The Cottagers this summer, has hit out at the Canadian FA regarding their travel arrangements for international players.
The 30-year-old is upset that the Canadian Soccer Association was unable to guarantee first class seats for the European-based players on flights back to North America.
"We have examples of guys flying 24 hours in economy class and getting here and playing a game and going back to their club teams," Radzinski said. "It is just impossible to perform then.
"That is just unacceptable."
