Lequi bound for Lazio
Argentinian defender Matias Lequi has agreed to sign for Lazio according to reports.
Lazio look to have won the race for Argentinian Matias Lequi.
The 23-year old defender impressed whilst on loan at Atletico Madrid last season, and news of his availability prompted a host of clubs to fight for his signature.
Reports in Italy suggest that he will sign a three year deal at Lazio, with earnings in the region of é¼500,000.
However, Lazio are reluctant to officially announce the deal until they have confirmation that the player is not contractually bound to Uruguayan club Cerro.
Lequi and his representatives insist he is a free agent, but Cerro are adamant the player is bound to them for almost another season.
With the wrangle over Lequi set to continue, the Uruguayan Federation have said that the Argentinian risks being banned for two years if he signs for the Serie A club.
