Sotnick: No Evans plans made
Boston chairman Jon Sotnick says no plans are set if Steve Evans is absent.
Boston United chairman Jon Sotnick has revealed that the League Two club have not made any contingency plan, should manager Steve Evans need to leave his role.Evans revealed this week that his position might be up in the air after receiving news that his eldest daughter was diagnosed with cancer.
Sotnick admitted there was no alternative plan in place, should Evans need time away to be with his family.
"I don't even want to go down the path of making contingency plans because we're all praying we don't need to," Sotnick told the Lincolnshire Echo.
"Steve is hoping to find out more information later in the week, and if he needs to spend time away from the club then we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.
"Obviously, the health and well-being of Steve's family is paramount.
"His emotions and feelings have been hit hard with the terrible news, but he can rest assured we will support him, whatever course of action he decides to take."
The York Street chairman added that the club have an experience management team to take over Evans's responsibilities, with reports suggesting that player/coach Paul Gascoigne could step in to take charge.
"Gazza will obviously be mentioned, but there is also director of football Jim Rodwell and assistant manager Paul Raynor. They can all take on the role if required," added Sotnick.
"Personally, I feel we have the management structure in place to cover for any time Steve may need away from the club.
"Hopefully, though, everything will work out positively and we will not be without the manager for any sustained spell."
