Trabelsi signs on

Hatem Trabelsi has settled his differences with Ajax coach Ronald Koeman.

Hatem Trabelsi has settled his differences with coach Ronald Koeman and is set to return to the Ajax fold, having signed a new contract on Friday.

The Tunisian had not trained with the club this term, after losing a court case over his contractual situation.

A number of meetings failed to resolve the problems, but a personal visit to the home of Trabelsi by Koeman was the catalyst to a thawing of relations.

Koeman and Trabelsi are looking to put the problems behind them and focus on the season ahead.

"I went to the house of Hatem and we spoke about the past and the future," Koeman said on Friday.

"I explained to him that it would be best for all concerned if he returned to train and play.

"I can forget what has happened and he will be treated the same as everybody else."

Koeman has admitted that he sought the approval of senior Ajax players before offering the olive branch to Trabelsi.

"The players were happy for him to return," added Koeman. "They have never had any problems with Hatem."

Trabelsi says he is happy to return to the team, although a transfer is still likely to happen in January, despite him signing a two-year contract.

"It was my decision to return," said Trabelsi. "I am happy to be back.

"I do not know about the possibility of a transfer in January, I must play for Ajax first.

"I am now 70 to 80 percent fit."
