Freddie doubts for Chelsea
Freddie Ljungberg believes Chelsea might not be ready to win the league.
Arsenal midfielder Freddie Ljungberg concedes that he thinks Chelsea might not be ready to lift the Premiership title this season. The West London outfit have started with new campaign undefeated under the tenure of Jose Mourinho, but Ljungberg still considers Manchester United to be Arsenal's biggest threat.
A summer of upheaval at Stamford Bridge saw the arrival of a new coaching team and a host of new players, with the goalscoring Swede of the opinion that it will take time for a side to gell.
When asked about Chelsea's title aspirations, Ljungberg was frank in his appraisal.
''I'm not so sure,'' Ljungberg told World Soccer. ''Chelsea have bought a lot of great players, they have a new manager in charge and look to have the strength in depth to win it.
''However, I still see Manchester United as our biggest threat. United have the experience of winning the league; Chelsea don't yet.
''They are bringing in players from abroad and it may take time for them to settle.
''Jose has a much bigger squad than we do, so it will not be easy for him to keep everyone happy.''
With Arsenal having yet to taste success in Europe, many supporters believe that the UEFA Champions League is the club's priority this season.
However, Ljungberg is keen to emphasise that domestic achievement will always supersede European aspirations.
''Our priority is to retain The Premiership, ahead of winning the Champions League,'' he continued.
''The boss has said he wants us to dominate in England, and if we can do that then Europe may come along as well.
''There is a passion to do well in Europe, but success in England remains the most important for me.''
