Mariners trial Dutchman

Grimsby Town have handed a trial to former Bristol Rovers striker Sergio Ommel.

The 27-year-old (pictured) arrived at Blundell Park on Tuesday, where he will play for the Mariners reserves against their counterparts from Hartlepool United on Wednesday.

The former Telstar Stormvogels hit-man had an unsuccessful trial with League Two rivals Shrewsbury Town last month before taking up Slade's offer to train with Grimsby.

The Mariners are keen to bolster their ranks after a less than impressive start to the new campaign and the tall striker will hope to have better fortune with his current trial.
