Georgatos looks to Liverpool

Grigoris Georgatos has insisted that Olympiakos are not scared of Liverpool.

Olympiakos star Grigorios Georgatos has insisted that his Greek outfit are not scared of Premiership giants Liverpool.

Olympiakos face The Reds in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday - and former Internazionale winger Georgatos believes that home advantage is key.

"We know that this is a very difficult match," the Greek star exclusively told skysports.com.

"We saw Liverpool in action against Monaco. They are a really good team with many appreciable players and a very capable and achieved coach who is trying to impose modern playing with spectacular and effective football.

"We respect Liverpool for their history and for their value as a team, but we aren't afraid of them.

"We showed at Riazor (where Olympiakos held Deportivo to a 0-0 draw) that we are capable of doing great things.

"At our new home Karaiskaki in front of our fantastic fans we will be more competitive and strong.

"We will try to do our best in order to take the victory which I think would be a great step towards qualification.

"As I saw, Liverpool are in better form than Deportivo and Monaco.

"But this means nothing to us because every game is particular and the teams can't perform at the same level every weekend because they get injuries or cards."

Georgatos missed out on a 1-0 league win against Aris Thessaloniki at the weekend with a sore foot, but the former AEK player was rested as a precaution and is expected to return to the starting XI for Tuesday's key game.

"Olympiakos must play a smart game against Liverpool," added Georgatos, "we must be mindful of our defence because they have strikers - but we must also be dangerous in attack.

"I wish that both sets of fans get to see a spectacular match.

"A match of Champions League level."
