Tavlaridis attracting attention

Former Arsenal defender Efstathios Tavlaridis is attracting scouts to Lille.

Former Arsenal defender Efstathios Tavlaridis is attracting scouts to Lille with his performances this term.

The Greek stopper had looked set to join Paris Saint Germain in the summer, only to end up at Lille after much wrangling regarding the transfer.

Despite signing a four-year contract, it is understood that Tavlaridis has a verbal agreement meaning he could move on again in 2005 if his club manage to make a substantial profit on his transfer.

After a delayed start to the campaign, due to an Army call-up, the 24-year-old has helped bolster Lille's defence with some solid displays.

Lille have not conceded a goal at home in their four Ligue 1 matches at Grimonprez-Jooris this term.

Providing Shelbourne can be overcome in the Uefa Cup, the group stages could present the former Portsmouth loanee with an opportunity to impress any observers and a return to England in the future cannot be ruled out.
