Pericard in fresh blow
Luckless Portsmouth striker Vincent Pericard's injury jinx has struck again.
Luckless Portsmouth striker Vincent Pericard's injury jinx has struck again after he hurt his knee during his reserve team comeback. The Frenchman missed the bulk of last season with a nagging thigh injury but was nearing a return to peak fitness.
He has made just one fleeting substitute appearance for Pompey, against Everton last December, in the past 12 months but was on the brink of a comeback.
Following two behind-closed-doors friendly outings, Pericard started for Pompey's reserves against local rivals Southampton on Tuesday.
The former Juventus starlet hinted at sharpness by scoring for the reserves before hurting himself after just 15 minutes following a challenge with Saints defender Allaedine Yahia.
After limping around for ten minutes, Pericard was substitute and he now faces an anxious wait to learn the damage he has suffered.
Pericard is due to have a scan on his knee on Wednesday and Pompey's initial fears are that the attacker has suffered a serious injury.
