Zebina delight at France call

Jonathan Zebina has spoken of his delight after receiving a call-up to the France squad.

The former Roma stopper has been in excellent form since his arrival at Juventus and has now been rewarded with international recognition.

Zebina followed coach Fabio Capello to the Stadio Delle Alpi and he has spoken of his gratitude towards the former Roma chief.

''Frankly the French team call is excellent news,'' said Zebina. ''My first thought was my parents, who have always supported me. We shared that together.

''Today I must send Fabio Capello a great thank you.

''Even in difficulties, the coach never turned his back. He has always trusted me. I think today it is pride for him.

''He has won his bet and I will work like a dog to prove my worth.

''Frankly I am eager to be there.''

The player also revealed that Milan were his suitors in the summer but that he chose Juventus to ensure a regular starting berth.

''Why should I go to Milan to stay on the bench?,'' he continued.

''I am at Juventus which looks right for me. It is like a new start in my career and I made the right choice.''
