Edman out of Sweden squad
Erik Edman has pulled out of Sweden's forthcoming World Cup qualifiers.
Erik Edman has pulled out of Sweden's World Cup qualification games against Hungary and Iceland, as he recovers from concussion.A clash with Everton's Tim Cahill left Edman concussed, and the Tottenham player has decided that he cannot make himself available for Sweden.
"I have to put my health first," explained the defender to Sportbladet.
The Sweden side's physician, Magnus Forsblad, explained that he fully agreed with the player's decision.
"Had Erik suffered another blow, he could have died," said Forsblad.
"Edman's career will not be at risk if he gets enough rest."
The withdrawal provides something of a headache for Sweden boss Lars Lagerback as well - who is expected to call up Mikael Dorsin to replace the Spurs man.
