Robinson praise for Martyn

Spurs keeper Paul Robinson has praised for mentor Nigel Martyn.

Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson has praised former team-mate Nigel Martyn ahead of Spurs' clash with Everton at the weekend.

Robinson was understudy and then succeeded Martyn at Leeds United, before the pair sought pastures new away from Elland Road.

The capable England custodian has recently usurped David James in Sven Goran Eriksson's thinking and has nothing but praise for his old mentor.

''I can't fault him,'' claimed Robinson. ''I ended up taking his place at Leeds but we stayed the best of friends.

''He's one of the nicest men you could meet. He helped me a lot. He's such a quality professional.

''You have to be patient. I was patient behind Nigel at Leeds but you have to take your chance when it comes.

''There is a lot of pressure and in our position mistakes are highlighted, everyone knows that.''
