Inzaghi looks to Sheva

Filippo Inzaghi is determined to forge a partnership with Andrei Shevchenko.

Filippo Inzaghi is determined to forge a partnership with Andrei Shevchenko now he has finally returned to fitness.

The Milan striker spent over five months on the sidelines with an ankle injury but has returned to action in the past fortnight.

He completed his rehabilitation with a goal for the Rossoneri in the midweek victory over Celtic in the UEFA Champions League.

With games now under his belt, Inzaghi is hoping he will get the nod from coach Carlo Ancelotti to become Shevchenko's regular foil in attack.

"Without being unkind to Tomasson or Crespo, who are two really big players, it would be beautiful to finally play with Sheva, considering for the last two seasons it hasn't been possible due to our injuries," said Inzaghi.

Following his goal against Scottish champions Celtic at San Siro, Inzaghi admits the emotions welled up inside him after such a lengthy absence.

He added to Corriere dello Sport: "After that goal I felt an incredible emotion. I was shivering, I was set to cry. A similar thing has never happened to me.

"And the supporters were also calling my name whilst I was warming up, then they encouraged me when I entered the pitch and they burst up with me when I scored.

"My team-mates have been fantastic, too. And I'm also referring to those who are frequently on the bench.

"I haven't forgotten what the feelings are to see others playing. For six months this happened to me, too."
