Mikael Silvestre has revealed his delight at returning to the France fold.
Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre has revealed he delight at returning to the France fold and wants to help the side recapture former glory.The former World and European champions have not been at their best recently and put in a below-par display in Euro 2004 this summer.
Silvestre did not play in Les Bleus' opening two World Cup qualifying fixtures against Israel or Faroe Islands, but is keen to play against Republic of Ireland and Cyprus.
The 27-year-old has been a virtual ever-present for The Red Devils this season at the heart of United's defence and wants France coach Raymond Domenech to give him a chance in his favourite position.
"I have always wanted to play in the French team. I am not as indispensable as Thierry Henry," said Silvestre.
"I play in a position with a lot of skills. I am neither vengeful nor do I bear grudges. I just want to be part of the rebuilding and go to the World Cup.
"I've had to learn the lessons from the Euro failure.
"At Manchester I only play in the middle. It is the position where I feel at my best. Even Sir Alex Ferguson understands it, so everyone has to understand it."
