Mutu unfit for Chelsea
Jose Mourinho has stated Adrian Mutu is unfit to play for Chelsea.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has stated Adrian Mutu is unfit to play for The Blues in Europe regardless of the situation regarding his positive test for cocaine. The Stamford Bridge outfit entertain CSKA Moscow on Wednesday at home, however the Romanian international striker is on the sidelines due to injury.
Mourinho has confirmed that Chelsea's medical staff have informed him Mutu is unavailable, but that Arjen Robben and Celestine Babayaro are on the road to recovery.
The Portuguese tactician was remaining tight-lipped over Mutu's future at the club as with him unavailable he was not prepared to discuss players who are not in a position to help the team.
While Robben is training with the first team the UEFA Champions League clash has come too soon for the Holland international while Didier Drogba is also out of the tie.
"I've received written information from my medical department speaking about his condition stating that he is not available to train with my squad," said Mourinho at a conference.
"When a player is not available to train they are not available to play. "I'm not a doctor, I'm just a manager. I receive every day written information from my medical department about my players' condition.
"I can give u a good example regarding Robben, a few days ago he couldn't train with the team or individually. After that I receive information that he couldn't train with the group, but he could individually so I gave him my fitness coach and one assistant to work with him in certain aspects.
"A few days later I receive written information that he can train with the squad with the limitation of contact. So I have to tell my players he is working with us, but you cannot challenge him as his foot is too fragile.
"In one week I believe I receive written information he will be free to work and play and on that Monday I receive written information about Adrian Mutu and the medical department was saying he cannot train with you in your squad or individually.
"From my doctors' information he is not (fit to play).
"I've not spoken to him about the situation and I've not spoken (about it) because I never like to speak about players who are not available.
"So Adrian Mutu, Didier Drogba and Babayaro are players to forget, Babayaro not so much as he's trained today.
"But all of the players who are not available I do not want to speak about them. My players focus on people who can play and who can help the team.
"At the moment I have only 19 players. Because I only need 18, I will have to choose one to be in the stands. I have enough players, not everyone, but I have enough."
