Preston bid for Hume rejected
Preston's bid for highly-rated Tranmere winger Iain Hume had been rejected
Preston North End Chairman Derek Shaw has confirmed that a bid for Tranmere Rovers winger Iain Hume has been turned down by the Prenton Park club.
The Liliywhites are keen to strengthen their options and it would appear as if Canadian international Hume has caught the eye of coach Billy Davies.
"I can confirm that reports in a national newspaper this morning are correct - that we have made a bid for Iain Hume," he told the club's official website.
Shaw also denied that the bid for the highly-rated 20-year-old, which he described as 'very generous', was an effort to line-up a replacement for David Healy - currently a target of Championship rivals Leeds.
"Iain Hume is not someone we are looking to bring in to replace David Healy," he insisted.
"He is a player Billy identified in his first week in charge of the club as someone he would like to add to the squad and the board have backed his judgement with a very generous offer," he added.
