Osasuna star backs Uruguay

Richard Morales is confident Uruguay can still qualify for the 2006 World Cup.

Osasuna striker Richard Morales is confident Uruguay can still qualify for the 2006 World Cup finals despite their current predicament.

Uruguay sit sixth in the South American qualifying section and have taken just four points out of the last 18 on offer.

The extent of their ambitions now looks to be to try and take fifth place in the group to earn a play-off against the winner of the Oceania section.

However, Morales is remaining positive and believes the side can still book their place for the finals in Germany.

"We are in a difficult situation but the team is strong and unified and that's why I am confident that we will qualify for the World Cup", said Morales.

"We received a lot of criticism in Uruguay after our last performances but I am sure that we are going to play in Germany 2006."
