Shaka Hislop has denied that he is ready to retire from international football.

The Trinidad and Tobago number one was quoted last week as saying he may step down, but the 35-year-old insists he intends on continuing with The Soca Warriors.

"I've said it before that I'm not getting any younger and there are other good goalkeepers coming up," Hislop told TTFF Media.

"But I have come back to play for my country which is always an honour and I will play whatever role I can at this time. I felt good out there in the last two games (St Kitts & Nevis and Mexico) and I think the team is beginning to make progress and we definitely want to give it our best shot at getting to the next World Cup."

Trinidad are on the brink of qualifying for the final phase of the Concacaf World Cup qualifying section and are fancied to claim their first ever spot in the finals in Germany in 2006.

Hislop showed on Sunday that is still capable of performing at the highest level after producing a string of good saves in helping Portsmouth claim a 1-1 draw at Middlesbrough.
