Rosenberg suffers foot injury

Top Swedish marksman Markus Rosenberg has suffered a foot injury.

Anderlecht target Markus Rosenberg has suffered a foot injury that may hamper his chances of a move to the Belgian giants.

The former Sweden Under-21 hit-man - who has also interested Dutch giants Ajax - limped off with the foot problem playing for loan club Halmstads on Saturday, as Sweden's domestic league brought its current season to a close.

According to reports in the Scandinavian country, the 22-year-old's injury might stop Hugo Broos's (pictured) attempts to bring the young goalscorer to Anderlecht during the January transfer window.

Rosenberg, who scored 14 goals for Allsvenskan runners-up Halmstads this season, is now expected to return to parent club and new Swedish champions Malmo at the end of November.

Despite the injury setback, Halmstads chairman Bengt Sjoholm believes Rosenberg could make his move away from Swedish football in the near future.

"Markus would probably have become professional today if he had not been injured," Sjoholm to Sportbladet.

"But I still believe he is in a good position."
