Liverpool have confirmed that Djibril Cisse has broken his leg and is unlikely to feature again this season.Cisse was stretchered off in Liverpool's 2-2 draw against Blackburn at Ewood Park.
The France international was in obvious pain, and Liverpool have now confirmed the immediate fears that the striker had suffered a break.
"Our club doctor Mark Waller has confirmed that Djibril Cisse suffered a comminuted fracture of the tibia and fracture of the fibula in his left leg," read a statement on the club's official website.
"Djibril will undergo surgery on Sunday morning to insert a pin in the tibia.
"Unfortunately he is unlikely to play again this season and everybody at the club wishes him the speediest of recoveries."
Cisse is just the latest Liverpool star to suffer a nasty injury at Ewood - which is becoming something of a jinxed ground for the club.
Both Jamie Carragher and Milan Baros have also suffered major injuries at the East Lancashire ground.
