Fadiga: I didn't faint

Bolton midfielder Khalilou Fadiga insists he did not faint prior to the game with Spurs.

Bolton Wanderers midfielder Khalilou Fadiga insists he did not faint prior to the Carling Cup tie against Tottenham Hotspur.

Fadiga was taken to hospital on Wednesday evening after falling to the turf during the warm-up for the game against Spurs.

The Senegal ace was due to have been on the substitutes' bench at The Reebok Stadium but was stretchered off the pitch before kick-off.

He has since been released from hospital but Fadiga is adamant he did not collapse in the warm-up, saying he merely needed to lie down.

The 29-year-old also feels the incident is not attributed to his past health problems, when an irregular heartbeat ruined his career at Internazionale.

Fadiga is confident he will not be sidelined for long as he aims to launch his career with The Trotters, who he joined in September.

"Contrary to what has been said, I didn't faint," Fadiga told L'Equipe.

"It was just like as if I was very hot inside of me, I was not fine and I preferred to lie down.

"Then they sent me to hospital to have examinations that didn't reveal anything.

"I had a little muscular trouble. I will take advantage to cure it and have some rest but that's all."
