Blackburn striker Matt Jansen faces a new spell on the sidelines after suffering a new injury blow.Jansen, who missed last weekend's draw with Liverpool, has sustained a knee cartilage injury.
The talented striker has seen the last two seasons decimated by a series of injuries and the new knock is a major blow to the player.
It is feared that Jansen may require surgery on the injury, but Rovers club doctor Phil Batty is hopeful he can avoid going under the knife.
"Matt has got a slight tear in his cartilage and he's currently undergoing rehabilitation that should hopefully resolve it," Batty told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.
"We feel that should be enough to resolve the matter until the end of the season but you can never be certain in these situations.
"Ultimately, the person who'll decide whether an operation is needed or not will be Matt himself.
"It's down to how he feels it's affecting him, but as things stand it's not a bad tear."
