Kiely backs boo boys

Dean Kiely admits he does not blame Charlton supporters for booing.

Goalkeeper Dean Kiely admits he does not blame Charlton supporters for booing the team in recent weeks.

The Addicks have endured a miserable run of late, having gone five games without a win.

Alan Curbishley's side were beaten 2-1 at The Valley on Saturday by Middlesbrough and left the field to a chorus of boos - in a move which Kiely can understand.

''The supporters gave the team a bit of stick and I have to say their reaction was entirely justified,'' conceded Kiely.

''They pay their money and when you don't do well your fans are entitled to let you know, that's only good and proper.

''When you play well you take the applause.

''You take the bouquets so you have to take the brickbats, if you like.''
