Bentley back for Norwich

Nigel Worthington has drafted David Bentley back into the Norwich City fold.

Nigel Worthington has drafted David Bentley back into the Norwich City fold following his punishment for a training ground joke which backfired.

Bentley has been ostracised for The Canaries' last two games against Manchester City and Blackburn Rovers following an incident in training.

The 20-year-old ignored Worthington's instructions to emulate the John Smith's advert where comedian Peter Kay boots the ball into the air and says 'Ave it'.

But the forward, on loan from Arsenal, was left with egg on his face when Worthington punished Bentley by leaving him out of his plans.

Worthington feels Bentley has now learned his lesson and has brought the talented youngster into his squad for Saturday's game at Charlton Athletic.

The Canaries chief is now hoping Bentley can rediscover the form he displayed during the initial stages of his season-long stint at Carrow Road.

"We've got good discipline at this club and we've got great pride in it," said Worthington.

"The good thing is he has listened and learned and since this happened he has been much better and looks like the player we brought in on loan."
