Atletico still in Tevez chase
Atletico Madrid insist they are still very much in the hunt for striker Carlos Tevez.
Atletico Madrid director general Miguel Angel Gil Marin insists the club are still very much in the hunt for Argentine striker Carlos Tevez.Reports earlier in the week suggested that Los Rojiblancos had withdrawn from the battle for the Boca Juniors star.
However, Gil Marin has denied the claims, and explained that club officials will be meeting Boca president Mauricio Macri in December to try and thrash out a deal.
"It's false what they have published," he told Clarin.
"Tevez continues to interest us and we will still be meeting with Mauricio Macri in December, if they don't sell him before, to see what arrangement we can come to.
"We are interested in good footballers. Tevez is a good footballer who could enrich Atletico and we are still interested.
"Clearly I believe, though, that we will have to get a bit closer with our figures."
Atletico are understood to be ready to splash out around é¼16 million on Tevez, although a host of other clubs are trailing the hit-man.
The 20-year-old is also on the wish-list of Bayern Munich, Shakhtar Donetsk and Corinthians.
