Raiola defends beleaguered Mido

Agent Mino Raiola believes Mido has not been given a chance at Roma.

Agent Mino Raiola has defended his charge Mido after his disappointing start to life in Italian football.

Mido, whose full name is Hossam Ahmed Mido, joined Roma from Marseille in the summer, but after an early injury has been used primarily as a winger and has yet to win over his critics.

"I haven't heard form anyone at the club, but people seem to have got the wrong idea about Mido," said Raiola.

"Mido is still young and he has struggled to adapt like any foreign player does when they arrive here.

"He got a knock in the first training session, had a few problems with [former coach Rudi] Voller and ended up on the bench.

"But the real problem is that the club are going through bad spell and haven't been able to help him, defend him from journalists and supporters.

"He can't show his capabilities because he doesn't play, and when he does they play him in the wrong position."

Mido was also eyed by both Manchester City and Newcastle in the summer, but the former Ajax ace plumped for Italy - a decision he now appears to be regretting.
