Baggies agree Megson package

Gary Megson is free to take up another post in management.

Gary Megson is free to take up another post in management after West Brom agreed a severance package with their former boss.

Megson, who had just under eight months remaining on his contract at The Hawthorns, had been placed on gardening leave after leaving the club.

Albion supremo Jeremy Peace revealed the side were keen to thrash out a deal in order for both parties to move on following Megson's axe earlier this month.

"Both parties have moved as quickly as they possibly can to tie up the loose ends," explained Peace to the club's official website.

"We've reached an amicable agreement with Gary which means both he and the club can now move on.

"We want to thank Gary for his hard work over the past four-and-a-half years which has helped the club create a platform for what we hope will be sustainable Premiership football."

Meanwhile, new manager Bryan Robson is remaining tight-lipped over whether the side will be making a move for Anderlecht's Aruna Dindane during the transfer window.

The Baggies, who are among the lowest scorers in The Premiership, are believed to want to bolster their attack, with Dindane a high priority.

"The chairman spoke about the fact that there could be some funds available in January," said Robson.

"We have got to look at that, assess the squad and see where we need improving."
