Fifa ban Thatcher

Wales ace Ben Thatcher has been handed a three-match ban by Fifa.

Wales ace Ben Thatcher has been handed a three-match ban by Fifa.

The Manchester City defender was found guilty of stamping on Polish defender Kamil Kosowski during his country's 3-2 defeat in Cardiff last month.

Poland were incensed with the incident that went unpunished at the time and sent a video of the incident to Fifa.

Fifa's disciplinary committee have now decided to punish Thatcher and he has been suspended for three games as well as fined close to £3,500.

The Football Association of Wales have until the end of the week to appeal the ruling.

The news is a blow for new Wales boss John Toshack as Thatcher is now likely to miss the games against Austria and the home tie with England.
