Lyon scrap keeper plan
Lyon have opted against bringing in a new goalkeeper during the transfer window.
Lyon have opted against bringing in a new goalkeeper in January, following an upbeat bulletin on the fitness of Gregory Coupet. The champions' number one shot-stopper was expected to be sidelined until the spring after damaging knee ligaments against Fenerbahce in the UEFA Champions League at the start of November.
But the France international could return to action much sooner and that has prompted Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas to abandon plans to bring in cover.
Aulas was considering Tunisian keeper Ali Boumnijel as a signing, or the possibility of bringing Remy Vercoutre back from his loan at Strasbourg.
With Coupet closer to fitness, Aulas is happy to rely on the present back-up to Nicolas Puydebois, who has been deputising for his injured team-mate.
"There will be no new keeper to cover Nicolas Puydebois," confirmed Aulas.
